The motorway begins in Turin at the intersection of Corso Giulio Cesare amd state highway 11 “Padana Superiore” and ends in Milan on Viale Certosa at the intersection of the Milan-Lakes and Milan-Bergamo motorways, extending in a nearly straight line for a total of 126 km.

The motorway crosses the Dora Baltea, Sesia and Ticino rivers, and the Malone, Orco, Elvo, Cervo Rovasenda, Agogna and Terdoppio streams. The motorway also crosses over/under the railway in 9 places plus 5 state highways, 13 provincial highways, 54 municipal streets and 82 local and private roads.
